Preview – Mexico Trip August 2010

Dear readers, you must think “Is Marc not going in vacation this year?”. Of course I will! And as expected this year, I am going back to Mexico to visit my girlfriend.

I have been there twice: In October 2008 and December 2008. But this time I go longer than ever: Exactly 4 weeks: From August 4th to September 1st.

The last times I have been mainly in Monterrey and Coatzacoalcos, but this time I plan to travel multiple cities. I am not sure which ones though. Maybe Guadalajara, Cancún or Holbox, Acapulco, etc… But what I know for sure is, that I am going to Tamiagua for a wedding of two of my girlfriend’s friends. I have never ever been to a wedding, not even a European one. So I am pretty looking forward to it!

This is how I would look like as a soccer fan

This is how I would look like as a soccer fan. You also want to create your own soccer avatar? Then get it at the Facebook application FootAVATAR. Unfortunately, the application is in French, but I am sure as clever as you are, you will figure out how to do it ;)

If you don’t have a Facebook account? WHY??? Create one!! ;)

Summer vacation: Mexico

Just an hour ago, I booked the flight for my summer vacation this year. Not like all the other times, this time I didn’t buy it in last second. My vacation will be from August 4th to September 1st, exactly 1 month! And the destination is again: Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico!! :)

My route will be the following: Luxembourg – Paris – Mexico City – Veracruz

I am going by Air France… not because I like it, but because it was the cheapest. I already reserved my seats. For going to Mexico, I won’t sit in a window, but fortunately for going back I will be sitting on a window seat! Yay! ;) I got a good price for the fact that it is high-season. (No, I won’t tell you the exact price here!)

Once being in Mexico, I won’t stay all the time in Coatzacoalcos of course. I will travel around. That plan is not yet made, but I will keep you posted about it. I am pretty excited about this, because it’s been a long time I have been there the last time (December 2008).

Mexican Slang (also swearing)

For those of you, who want to visit Mexico in near or far future, I have something useful here… Mexican slang and swearing expressions… ;)

Visit from Mexico

Last week, I got a visit from Mexico for 1 week – My girlfriend visited me :)

She arrived on Saturday at 16:30 at the Zürich airport. I picked her up there of course :) We haven’t seen each other for a little bit less than 3 (hard) months. But so the time together was even more unforgettable!

Furthermore, two other friends (Italy & Spain) who were doing their exchange semesters here came here as well.

A sad thing was bringing her back to the airport yesterday morning (we woke up at 5am). I rarely had such a good week since long time.

Here are some impressions of her visit…

I uploaded the video where we burnt the “viejo” on New Year’s 2008/09.
Short explaination: It is a doll, filled with firecrackers, shower with gazonline and put on fire ;) Enjoy!

Mexico December 2008 – Part Five

Part Five – Leaving on a jetplane

I'm leaving on a jet plane... Don't know when I'll be back again...

As you can imagine, this is always the saddest part! I was there for almost 3 weeks (20 days), and I won’t see her again until she visits me in April this year. But I know that it will be totally worth it :)

Part Three – New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve is the day in Mexico, where everyone puts the finest clothes and look the best. I find this kind of mean, because they eat so much in December. Anyway, we all got in very fancy clother. I worn a black suit (bought it new there), a gray shirt (bought it new there as well) and a dark red tie (borrowed from Yle’s dad). As I said: I looked bad-ass fancy! ;) As Christmas also New Year’s Eve have a lot of traditions in Mexico…

Mexico December 2008 – Part Two

Part Two – Christmas in Mexico

“Ho Ho Ho” – Time to re-catch a little bit about my Christmas vacation in Mexico.

Christmas eve, the 24th December is the most important holiday for the Mexicans. All the family has to be “collected” together. All the family has dinner together and then be opening the presents. After the “family part”, (approximately 2am.), the “family part” is over, and the “friends part” starts. Everyone leaves the family and comes together with friends to have fun.

This was the most extraordinary Christmas celebration I ever had…
